What is Public Christianity?

Sandwiched between the end of the 4th and 9th chapter of Matthew’s gospel, we read about Jesus going from town to town “teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness.”  Teaching, preaching, healing.  Three expressions of what I call Public Christianity and the premise behind this site.  Jesus challenged religious tradition by his teaching (“You have heard it said… but I say to you…”), proclaimed an alternative politic/culture/system as “good news of the kingdom”, and physically, emotionally, and spiritually healed those at the fringes of society.  On this site: teaching describes material explicitly meant for the context of a congregation or small group; proclaiming are regular posts meant to align our hearts to an alternative kingdom; healing describes hands-on ministry intended to heal spiritual sickness plaguing our culture.  Stick around and explore.  I will try and update content regularly.
